~Best Illustrative Picture Book ages 6 and up~

Bella looks out the airplane window at the frozen tundra below. This is her Alaskan adventure! She is excited to be a part of her scientist parent’s work studying climate change. But as Bella cuddles her stuffed dog, she wonders if she will make new friends in this far-away wilderness. Join Bella as she explores and discovers this new land with all its wonders and possible dangers and learns in the end sometimes true friendship is letting go. This story is inspired by the beautiful, rugged landscape of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, and the animals and people that make this their home. Donna has created a loving story of a young girl and her friendship with a baby polar bear.

Bella and Jingles, set in arctic Alaska, is award-winning Donna Seim’s third picture book. Donna’s love for children’s literature has always been her passion, along with her love of animals.

Her first picture book, Where is Simon, Sandy?, set in the Caribbean, is the story of a little donkey that wouldn’t quit.

Her second picture book, Satchi and Little Star, is the story of a little girl who tries to catch and tame a wild horse.

As well as picture books, Donna has three middle-grade novels. Her first novel, Hurricane Mia, is an adventure story set in the Caribbean. Charley, her second novel, is based on a true story of an abandoned boy in 1910. Charley has been awarded the Eloquent Quill Award, Top Honors from the Literary Classic Book Awards, and first place in Regional Literature from the New England Book Festival. Charley, the book, has now been adapted as, Charley, the play, and has been performed in New England Theaters.

Asante Sana Tanzania is Donna’s first armchair travel book, which takes the reader along with her, and her photographer husband, on a safari in Africa. The title has won two national awards.

Donna is a graduate from The Ohio State University with a BSSW in the field of Social Welfare. Donna also holds a MA in Special Education from Lesley University.

Donna lives in Newbury, Massachusetts, with her husband, Martin.
